Four-year-olds are more independent, self-reliant, and able to make plans to carry out and complete tasks. Four-year-olds also have more sophisticated imagination and analytical skills which are great vehicles for conducting projects to make hypotheses, discover, analyse, and understand cause-and-effect. Four-year-olds’ language skills are rapidly developing, including speaking complex sentences, reading, and writing. It is important for kindergarten children to develop both academic tasks and intellectual goals to ensure both their short-term as well as their long-term success. We ensure children’s strong abilities in various kindergarten-level academic tasks including reading, writing, numeracy, scientific knowledge; and intellectual goals including inquiry skills and creative expression. We foster this by following the children’s leads, and ensure that the children enjoy learning.
